How to Measure Your Body for a Dress
All you need is a soft measuring tape. For better accuracy, wear fitted or lightweight clothing while taking your measurements and keep the measuring tape comfortably level around your body.
1. How to Measure Your Bust
Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your bust, usually across the nipple line.
Make sure the tape stays straight and level around your body. It should sit comfortably against your skin without being pulled too tightly.
Tip: Keep your arms relaxed by your sides while measuring.
2. How to Measure Your Waist
Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist, which is usually slightly above your belly button.
Avoid sucking in your stomach while measuring. Keep your body relaxed so you get a more accurate measurement.
3. How to Measure Your Hips
Stand naturally with your feet together and wrap the measuring tape around the fullest and widest part of your hips and buttocks.
Keep the tape parallel to the floor and make sure it isn't too tight.
Why You Should Shop by Measurements Instead of S, M or L
One of the most common mistakes when buying dresses online is choosing a size simply because “I usually wear M.”
Unfortunately, clothing sizes are not universal.
